Privacy at HomeWalk

In plain English: HomeWalk is used by a business to understand a property before preparing a quote or attending site. The information and photos you provide are made available to that business so it can review your property. They are not public.

What HomeWalk may hold

A HomeWalk can contain information supplied by the business that sent the link and information you add while completing it. Depending on the walkthrough, this may include your name, property address, contact details, household and project preferences, existing equipment information, electricity bills, photographs, approximate equipment locations, notes, progress and completion timestamps.

Why the information is used

HomeWalk processes this information so the sending business can prepare for a quote, review a property, reduce follow-up questions and understand the customer’s preferences. HomeWalk also uses limited operational information to run, secure, troubleshoot and improve the service, including measuring whether walkthroughs are opened, started and completed during the founding pilot.

Who can see it

Customer HomeWalk information is intended for the workspace of the business that sent the private link and authorised users of that workspace. HomeWalk’s service infrastructure processes the information as required to provide the product. HomeWalk does not make customer walkthroughs public and does not sell homeowner information to advertisers.

Private links and files

Customers do not need a HomeWalk account. Each customer walkthrough uses a long opaque private link. Customer uploads are stored in private storage and delivered through time-limited signed links rather than public file URLs. Private customer routes are also configured not to be indexed by search engines.

Service providers and location of systems

HomeWalk currently uses Supabase for authentication, database, Edge Functions and private file storage, and Vercel for the web application and delivery infrastructure. The primary Supabase project used by HomeWalk is configured in Sydney, Australia. Internet delivery, security, logging and supporting infrastructure may involve systems outside Australia.

How long information is kept

During the founding pilot, HomeWalk keeps customer and workspace information while it is reasonably needed to provide the service, support the sending business and maintain operational records. A business can request that customer records be archived or deleted. Some security logs, backups or technical records may remain for a limited period where technically necessary.

Your choices and requests

If you are a homeowner completing a HomeWalk, the business that sent you the link is normally the best first contact for correcting or removing information connected with your quote. You can also use the HomeWalk support instructions for a privacy or data request.

Safety and sensitive information

Please only upload information relevant to the property or quote. Do not upload identity documents, passwords, financial account credentials or other information that the sending business has not asked for.
